Flying needs no account
You can use Starward without signing in. Your pilot name and Pilot’s log (places visited, distance flown, badges) are kept only in your browser.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. It lets your Pilot’s log follow you between devices.
- We ask Google only for your basic profile. We keep your Google account ID and first name. We do not ask for or keep your email address.
- Your log is stored with that ID in our database (Upstash, United States).
- To erase it, open the Pilot’s log and choose “Delete my saved log”. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie from your browser.
The guide and the narrator
- Questions you ask the guide, with a short note about where you are in the app, are sent to Anthropic’s Claude to write an answer. We do not keep them.
- Spoken answers are made by sending the answer text to ElevenLabs. Most arrival announcements are pre-recorded and send nothing.
- The Talk button uses your browser’s own speech recognition. Some browsers process that audio on the browser maker’s servers.
Everything else
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which records visitors’ IP addresses for security and to limit abuse.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell data.
- Children under 13 should use Starward without signing in.
